Listed below is the make-up of the new Cabinet, in which there is now a Ministry of Tourism and no longer a Ministry of Press and Mass Media.

 | In Greece, the construction and operation of marina facilities began in the 1960s, when the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) launched a long-term marina construction program. In the 1980s, under a growing demand for mooring places, local prefectures, port authority funds, and private investors followed the GNTO initiative and expanded the country's marina facilities to meet the demands of a blossoming tourism market. Today, Greece infrastructure for sailing vessels includes 51 marinas that offer 14,661 mooring places and providing services such as berths, fuel, water and electricity, telephony, and repairs.

Founded in 1986 by two mountain guides, the company (known as (LEAD S.A.) has grown over the years to include 11 companies and 70 workers and now sells its unique brand of tourism through travel agencies in Greece and through foreign agencies from the U.S. to Nepal.

 | The prefecture of Pieria, in the northern Greece region of Central Macedonia, has impressive geographical features. It is flanked by Mountain Olympus, the Pieria mountain range, and the coast of Thermaikos Bay. At the center of the prefecture, which covers an area of 1,516 square kilometers and has a population of 129,846, lies the capital town of Katerini, 440 kilometers from Athens and 70 kilometers from Thessaloniki. It was originally thought that Katerini, a significant urban center in Northern Greece, was originally built on the ruins of the ancient Macedonian city “Atiron,” but the prevailing belief today is that it was built during the years of Turkish occupation.
